Interview by Mira Mesa Mom

Written by Jackie Schell

miramesamomA special thank you to Mira Mesa Mom for our interview!

Mira Mesa Mom asked our friends on Facebook and twitter, “What do you wish you would have learned as a teen that would help you now?” Four out of five times, the answer was, “how to save and manage my money!”

Let’s face it; we don’t learn everything in school! As parents, it is our responsibility to make sure we send our children out into the world with the best tools and resources to survive. For one reason or another, one lesson that is often overlooked, but is the most important of all, is the lesson of financial responsibility.

Mira Mesa Mom sat down with Jaclyn Schell, Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) and President of Money MindEd, a financial education program specifically for teenagers. By day, Jaclyn runs a successful business helping families establish their financial goals (i.e. retire at age 50, help kids with college, go on vacation), and helps create a financial plan that’s easy to follow. By night, she is a professor at National University teaching finance to adults at the college level as well experienced business professionals. As you can see, Jaclyn has a high interest in finance; a passion if you will, she didn’t plan to be in finance, she simply fell in love with it! And she wants to teach people of all ages how to lead a financially happy life, because it is possible!

Our teen financial workshops can be one of the best investments you make!
